Where is the school located?

Austin Kenpo Karate is located in North Central Austin, at 5501 N. Lamar, Ste A-225 on the east side of Lamar across from McDonalds. Drop in and observe a lesson anytime. Click here for an interactive map.

How do I get started?

1. Call to set up an interview: 512-459-1806. Sifu Schroder interviews all student candidates before training begins. Students are accepted upon conclusion of the interview at the discretion of Sifu Schroder.

2. Begin your introductory lessons. There are six weeks of group classes in the introductory course. Adults meet Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00 pm. Juniors meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:00 PM, and the youth classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:00 pm. The introductory classes are an hour in length and are designed to teach the beginning students the fundamentals needed to advance into the regular classes.

3. Upon completion of the introductory course, the student possesses the knowledge to move forward into group and/or private lessons.

When will I attend classes?

Once you begin regular group classes, you are required to attend at least two days a week. Please consult the class schedule for dates and times pertaining to your course level. Students are encouraged to attend as many classes as possible to perfect and advance in their training.

What are the rules of conduct?
  • Arrive 5 to 10 minutes prior to your scheduled class.
  • Keep uniforms neat, clean and odor-free.
  • Ask permission to bow in if you are late.
  • Remove all jewelry before class.
  • Always show respect to instructors and classmates.
  • Have guests be well-mannered and properly behaved.
  • Practice and exercise at home for best results.
  • Develop and keep a positive, disciplined attitude.

Where do I get my equipment?

Austin Kenpo Karate sells all of the supplies needed to for the Kenpo student. Guis, belts, patches, sparring equipment, books and other materials are all available for purchase at the school for reasonable prices.
